The
issue of mobile phone theft needs to be addressed through
a concerted effort made globally. The more countries take
action, the greater the combined impact of this action.
Countries need to work together collaboratively to tackle
this shared problem as lasting change can only be secured
through effective multi-country co-operation, such as the
process initiated among European countries. During the period
when efforts are being made for such collaboration, we should
begin certain efforts within our own jurisdiction and look
for various possible solutions - TRAI.
A spokesperson for a cellular operator, says "Our customer
service centers get at least 40-50 calls per day from people
enquiring what they can do about their stolen phones. Another
cellular operator replaces an average of 500 SIM cards a
month, on account of mobile thefts alone. Not only have
cell phones been pick pocketed or snatched from people's
hands, even muggers demand cell phones first. |
